About me
Welcome to my website.
My name is Francisco Javier Falcó Benavent. I have been a lecturer in the Department of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Valencia since 2017.
Professional experience
I have worked at the Polytechnic University of Valencia, Kent State University (USA), the University of Mons (Belgium) and the University of Valencia. I have more than ten years of university teaching experience in Spain and the United States, and in recent years I have taught several science outreach courses through the University of Valencia Extension Service. I joined the Department of Mathematical Analysis at the University of Valencia as an Assistant Professor in 2017, and I have been an Associate Professor since 2021.
Research
My research focuses on functional analysis and the geometry of Banach spaces. I have contributed to:
- norm-attaining theory,
- Banach and Frechet algebras,
- approximation of functions of several complex variables,
- hypercyclicity,
- the theory of G-invariant functions.
The updated list of research articles and projects in which I have participated is available at this link.
Studies
I hold a degree in mathematical sciences, three master’s degrees (an official master’s degree in mathematical research from the University of Valencia, a second master’s degree in mathematical research from Kent State University in the USA, and an official master’s degree in non-university teaching from the UNED). I also hold two independent PhDs in mathematical analysis, awarded by the University of Valencia and Kent State University (USA). Both PhDs received the highest possible distinction.
